I live in West Sussex, England, and after a career in photography spanning 40 years, I have just completed a photography MA with Falmouth university. I am also an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society with an additional Graduate in Imaging in the Creative Industries qualification.
I love the simplicity of producing images using only the basic elements of light and time, so my current photographic practice involves the use of medium and large format pinhole cameras, processing my own images using home-made developer (Caffenol).
My introduction to analogue photography came from working in a Professional photo lab after leaving school. I became proficient in machine printing, hand printing, and C41 and E6 film processing which led to winning 4 awards in the Fuji/PPLA printer awards in the 1990’s. During this period, I also worked as a wedding photographer, initially starting with a twin lens Mamiya C330.
Before leaving to pursue my MA, I taught photography for the past 20 years, initially part time adult education, then full time Further Education A Level Photography. My passion and experience for analogue photography and darkroom practice was shared with my students, many of which went on to study photography themselves. II am also a part time Moderator and Test Constructor for OCR for Art and Design and an AS & A Level Art and Design Examiner for Cambridge Assessment International Education.
